Preglife, the week-by-week pregnancy and early parenthood app, embedded a fully branded in-app community using Octopus Community's native iOS and Android SDK - then scaled the same integration from Sweden and Poland into Germany and Finland within ten weeks. Five months after its first launch, the community had grown across all four markets, with members opening the app significantly more often than non-members.

Built once, launched four times: why Preglife designed its community to scale from day one
About Preglife
Preglife is a week-by-week pregnancy and early parenthood app, tracking a user's journey from first trimester through the baby's earliest months. Based in Sweden, the app has expanded from its home market into Poland, Germany and Finland. Pregnancy apps live or die on trust and daily relevance - users check in constantly for symptom guidance, milestone tracking and reassurance, which makes the twelve months of a pregnancy (and beyond) a uniquely habit-forming window, if the product can hold their attention.
The business challenge
Pregnancy is an intensely social experience, but Preglife's users were split across four languages and cultural contexts - and the team had no way to give any of them a real peer community without rebuilding the feature from scratch for every new market. Translation alone wouldn't solve it: a German user's expectations for a "community" aren't the same as a Polish or Finnish user's. Preglife needed one integration that could launch a fully localized, on-brand community in each new market in weeks, not months - without diluting the experience in markets where the product was already established.
How Preglife took one SDK integration from two markets to four
Preglife launched its in-app community in Sweden and Poland, built directly into its iOS and Android apps. From day one, the team ran a controlled test comparing users with and without community access, giving them a clear read on its real impact.
Ten weeks later, the team brought the same community to Germany and Finland, launching a new market meant setting up a new group list, not building anything from scratch. And the community kept getting richer for all four markets at once:
- Personalized feeds: users follow the groups relevant to their trimester or market, and see a feed built around that
- Local flavor, shared foundation: custom reactions and synced topic-following let each market's community feel local, while running on the same technical base
- One-tap sharing: any button in the app can drop a user straight into a specific group, or let them post about something from the app instantly
- Consistent moderation: AI-powered moderation and spam protection applied the same way across all four languages, from a single dashboard
Handling a community across four markets
One SDK, four communities, minimal engineering work
The entire jump from two markets to four - new language, new group structure, new user base - just required new API keys. All the heavy work being done by Octopus Community: moderation, localization, management of the data. That's what let Preglife move from Sweden and Poland to Germany and Finland in a few days rather than weeks of parallel work.
The newest market became the fastest-growing
Germany launched two months after Sweden and Poland, but quickly became the most active of the four markets - typical of a young community still building its content base, but a clear signal that the same integration works even in a market with no prior community history.
Polls: a feature that resonated across markets
Polls performed unexpectedly well in Germany, well ahead of expectations for a new market. Rather than treat it as a one-off, Preglife rolled the same feature into Sweden and Poland shortly after, with strong results in both - a sign that what resonates in one market can translate directly to others.
From one market to a four-country habit
Five months after its first launch, Preglife's community isn't a Swedish feature that happened to also exist in three other countries - it's the same product experience, tuned market by market, that has become a genuine daily habit for users navigating pregnancy in four different languages. A large, engaged community, strong repeat engagement, and a consistent app-open lift across every market are the proof that the architecture scales as fast as Preglife's own expansion does.
